INEZ — Efforts by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of Jonathan E. Mollett, 35, and Jennifer E. Miller, 39, both of Inez, on multiple drug-related charges and endangering the welfare of a minor. The arrests took place Thursday afternoon following the execution of a search warrant at a camper on Rockcastle Road.
During the operation, officers discovered a series of alarming circumstances.
Authorities seized a loaded Rossi 22 Rifle, two bags containing a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, multiple unidentified pills, digital scales, clear bags, a glass meth pipe and a straw with residue.
The rifle and the other items were in plain view and within reach of Miller’s 5-year-old child, who was inside the small camper.
Police contacted the Department of Social Services, who placed the child under protective custody at the scene.
Police said Mollett had engaged in illegal activities involving a stolen dozer winch that he traded for a torch, knowing that the winch was stolen.
Mollett is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a minor, receiving stolen property $1,000-10,000, first-degree possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, drug paraphernalia-buy/possession, third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified), and receiving stolen property $10,000 or more.
Miller is facing a charge of endangering the welfare of a minor.
Chief Deputy Chris Kidd and Deputy Jonathan Holbrook executed the search and arrests.
