INEZ — Theft highlighted Martin County grand jury indictments May 4.
The grand jury indicted the following six individuals:
Jeremy Maynard, 40, of Lovely, was indicted for second-degree escape. The indictment states Maynard escaped custody of the Martin County Jailer while being transported from Big Sandy Regional Detention Center to the courthouse in Inez for a court appearance Jan. 19. His bond is $5,000.
Mark Porter, 56, of Debord, was indicted for theft by unlawful taking $1,000-10,000, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license and all-terrain vehicle violations. The indictment accuses Porter of taking approximately $1,000 in copper transmission line/belt line Jan.1 at Czar Coal Company and operating an ATV on a prohibited roadway on a suspended or revoked license. The court issued a summons for Porter to appear in court June 15.
Asiaa Meeks, 26, of Louisa, was indicted for first-degree bail jumping. The indictment accuses Meeks of not appearing for court March 2 after being released from custody. Her bond is $5,000.
Jonathan Pack, 36, unknown, was indicted for theft by deception $1,000-10,000. The indictment accuses Pack of obtaining goods, monies, services or property from Evans Pawn Shop in Inez by issuing a check that he knew would not be honored Sept. 22, 2022. The judge issued a summons for Pack to appear June 15 to answer the charge.
Lori Williamson (aka McKinney), 38, was indicted for theft by deception $1,000-10,000 and theft by deception under $1,000. The indictment accuses Williamson of obtaining goods, monies, services or property from Evans Pawn Shop by using a check for $1,500 and another check for $600 that she knew would not be honored in March 2023. Williamson is summonsed to appear in court June 15.
Jeffrey Preece, 47, of Lovely, was indicted for third-degree burglary. The indictment accuses Preece of entering the Warfield Dairy Bar with the intent to commit a crime June 27, 2022. Preece is summonsed to appear in court June 15.
