James Stewart Osborn

1936—2023

James Stewart Osborn, 87, of Inez, passed away May 13, 2023, in Lexington.

Born April 17, 1936, in Martin County, he was the son of the late Elijah and Hattie Harless Osborn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elbert J. (Debbie) Osborne, Danny Wayne and Richard Osborne, and seven sisters, Allie Mae Stepp, Sylvia Osborne, Lizzie Damron, Betty Jean Goble, Rosie Marcum, Egie Webb Stepp and Nancy Howard.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Muncy Osborn; three sons, James W. (Roxanne) Osborn of Amanda, Ohio, and Danny S. (Janice) Osborn and John D. (Tracy) Osborne, both of Paintsville; one daughter, Janet Osborn (Claude) Crisp of Nebo, North Carolina; two stepchildren, Franklin “Pete” (Nancy) Fitzpatrick of Inez and Cathy (Gary) Fitzpatrick-Sparks of Beauty; and two brothers, Jay L. (Tish) Osborne and Dewey (Lynn) Osborn, both of Beauty. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Joseph (Nikki) Osborn, April (Travis) Bowersock, Ryan (Nicole) Crisp, John (Jessa) Crisp, Alethea Lardner, Amelia Woodward, Jared (Amanda) Osborn, Megan Osborn, Derek Osborne and Bryce Osborne; five step-grandchildren, Miranda (Max) Hale, Cindy (Shannon) Rowe, James (Ashley) Fitzpatrick, Robert (Meagan) Harris, and Thomas (Tiffany) Fitzpatrick; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Warnie Pinson officiating. Pallbearers were Ryan Crisp, Claude Crisp, Joey Osborn, James Fitzpatrick, Robert Harris and Thomas Fitzpatrick. Burial was at the Delong Cemetery in Davella, under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
