PRESTONSBURG — Sundy Best hosted their third annual Kinfolk Reunion on Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6.
Events included live music from Sundy Best and other Appalachian artists as well as a family-friendly “Kidfolk” gathering Saturday morning. All events took place in Archer Park in Sundy Best’s hometown of Prestonsburg.
Friday night’s lineup started off with Phill Barnett of Lawrence County, Emily Jamerson of Prestonsburg, the Kentucky Opry Junior Pros, and Sundy Best.
Saturday featured Abe Partridge of Mobile, Alabama, Burden of Proof of Prestonsburg, Home Grown Head of Lexington, and Sundy Best.
The Kidfolk event, co-hosted by the Kent Rose Foundation, took place Saturday, starting with a “sensory-friendly” session with quiet activities for all ages and abilities.
At noon, a showcase of high school stage bands from Betsy Lane, Floyd Central and Prestonsburg, along with the MSU Country Band performed.
Throughout Kidfolk, there were games, music, dancing, painting and instrument giveaways provided by Mountain Music Exchange.
Kinfolk Reunion ‘23 was fun for the whole family, as Sundy Best and the City of Prestonsburg continue to showcase some of the best of what the region has to offer.
