Below is a recap of the action:

Martin County Middle School soccer started the week at home April 24 with an 8-0 victory over East Carter Middle School.

Coming off a big road win the week before, the Lady Cards wanted to avoid a letdown in play. They started the game with good ball movement, leading to several early shots on goal.

Faith Caldwell found the net first for the Lady Cards. Minutes later she found forward Jazlynn Jude, who scored the second goal for Martin County.

The half ended with Caldwell adding her second and Maddy Goble finding Jude for her second to give the Lady Cards a 4-0 lead.

East Carter started the second half with some early chances, but the Martin County defense was too much. The Raiders remained scoreless at the final whistle.

Martin County’s offense was not done, as the Lady Cards scored four goals in the second half. Caldwell and Jude both ended with a hat trick. Annaleigh Davis followed with one of her own, while Londyn Fraley scored the final goal.

MCMS 7, PMS 0

Martin County Middle School soccer was on the road Thursday to take down district rival Paintsville Middle School 7-0.

Despite the cold and rainy weather, the Lady Cards looked sharp early. Jazlynn Jude had a couple of early chances and found the back of the net six minutes into the game. Hope Caldwell made a great back post run to put Martin County up 2-0.

Not to be outdone, Mia Preece scored from the opposite back post to push the Martin County score to 4-0. Caldwell added two more right before halftime to make it 5-0.

The rain continued and the game slowed. Unfazed by the weather, Annaleigh Davis found enough space to shoot and add another goal to extend the Martin County lead to 6-0.

Caldwell finished with her second goal to end the game and extend Martin County’s win streak to seven.

With one week left before the conference tournament, Martin County was scheduled to travel Tuesday (May 2) to Adams Middle School for its final district game of the season.

The Lady Cards are 9-1 and tied for first place in the East Conference of the Ohio Valley Conference.
