Phillip Gerald Hevener

1956—2023

Phillip Gerald Hevener, 66, of South Charleston, West Virginia, formerly of Evans, and a former 20-year resident of Inez, Kentucky, passed away April 19, 2023, at Valley Center, South Charleston, following an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 26, 1956, in Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late Jerl and Charlotte (Sharp) Hevener. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Rosalie Hevener.

Phillip worked in the Kentucky coal mines with many years of service. He loved helping others in times of need and would freely give the shirt off his back to help someone.

Phillip was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed deer and ginseng hunting. He was Methodist by faith.

Survivors include his daughter, Ann Wray and her husband, Bryan of South Charleston; sisters, Amber Reed and her husband Charles of Orlando, Florida, Sherry Perdew of St. Albans, West Virginia; grandchildren, Cassie (Donnie) Vanway, Corey Vanway and Kristina Vanway; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Brooklyn; step-children Oscar (Missy) Fuller, Jessica Fuller and multiple step-grandchildren.

A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Cottageville, West Virginia.
