Paintsville came calling April 11 for an important district game for both teams. The Lady Cards showed no signs of rust with sharp passes and tough defense.
Forward Jazlynn Jude was too much for Paintsville’s defense, scoring a hat trick by the end of the game.
The Tigers found themselves on defense most of the game as the Lady Cards ended the contest early 10-0.
MC vs. LC
Martin County was on the road Thursday to Lawrence County to take on the Bulldogs in another district game. The Lady Cards got off to a slow start and found themselves on defense in the first part of the game.
Midway through the half, the Cards started to connect passes to get the offense on track.
Faith Caldwell was the first to find the net giving the Lady Cards a 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the game. Jude quickly scored two goals and Annaleigh Davis followed with one to give Martin County a 4-0 lead by halftime.
The Lady Cards scored early in the second half and never looked back. Caldwell scored two more goals giving her a hat trick and Davis ended with two of her own.
When the final whistle blew, the Lady Cards won 7-0 – their third in a row.
MC vs. BC
The final game of the week for the Lady Cards was on the road at Boyd County. Martin County moved the ball but could not find the back of the net for most of the first half.
The Lions defense kept the ball out of the net until Jude scored at the 18-minute mark in the first half.
Davis scored another goal for the Lady Cards, giving them a 2-0 lead by the half. Mia Preece scored a third goal for the Lady Cards in the second half to seal the deal and end the game with a 3-0 win.
