WASHINGTON — Martin County Middle School sponsored a field trip to Washington over spring break.
Teachers Kristie Fields and Sam Lever led a group of 20 middle school students to the nation’s capital and enjoyed the sights and sounds of busy city life.
Among highlights were excursions to the American History Smithsonian Museum, the Natural History Museum, George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon, and a visit to see the original copy of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence at the National Archives.
In addition, the travelers paid respects to the past with trips to many of the nation’s most important monuments and memorials, including WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War memorials and the Arlington National Cemetery.
Both students and chaperones reported that they enjoyed their time and hoped to make this trip a yearly tradition.
