MCMS softball drops two games

The newly formed Martin County Middle School softball team dropped two games last week against Lenore 10-0 and Crum 12-0.

The Lady Cardinals faced off against visiting Lenore and lost 10-0 in four innings March 28.

Emma Lackey pitched the no-hitter for Lenore striking out nine batters and walking three.

Bella Robinson took the mound for the Lady Cards.

Lenore scored one run in the first inning, two in the second and seven in the fourth.

The Lady Cards struggled at the plate.

The Lady Cards traveled to Crum, West Virginia, Thursday and lost a 12-0 decision to Crum Middle School in three innings.

Crum scored two runs in the first inning and 10 in the third for the shutout.

Shannon Marcum started the circle for the Lady Cards and recorded seven strikeouts.

Kalynn Salmons started on the mound for Crum, recording eight strikeouts and giving up no runs and no hits.
