IES Student Leadership Council hosts ‘Appreciation Week’

INEZ — During the week of March 20, the Inez Elementary Student Leadership Council hosted Appreciation Week for school staff.

The council dedicated days to the staff members recognizing them for their important roles at the school.

The SLC comprises 22 third- and fourth-graders and has been making a huge impact within the school and community since its creation this school year.

In February, they recognized the school’s wonderful FRYSC coordinator Andrea Muncy and amazing school counselor Susan Whitt. The SLC presented both with gift cards to show their appreciation.

During last week’s appreciation days, student council members treated the staff as follows:

Monday: Custodian Appreciation Day! Custodians were treated to a hot pizza lunch. “Any way you slice it, we appreciate them.”

Tuesday: Lunch Room Staff Day! Council members said, “Thanks a latte” to our lunch ladies and gave them a “Lunch Lady Latte.”

Wednesday: Assistant Appreciation Day! Assistants were given lemonade to say, “Thanks for all the aid they provide.”

Thursday: Office Staff Day! Our awesome principal, Ms. Fields, and her office staff were treated with “Office Staff Treat Packs.” These packs included different candies that represent the important roles that they play.

Friday: Teacher Day! IES’s wonderful teachers were given some Easter PEEPS to say, “Thanks for making our students smart peeps.”

The student council meets every few weeks to come up with ways to make others’ days better.
