Traffic stop leads to meth, heroin bust

BETSY LAYNE, Ky. — Police arrested four people after seizing methamphetamine and heroin during a traffic stop Wednesday.

According to Kentucky State Police Post 9, a Drug Interdiction Unit trooper observed an equipment violation on a silver 2015 Kia Optima and conducted a traffic stop in the Betsy Layne community. While searching the vehicle and its occupants, law enforcement seized suspected methamphetamine and heroin, drug paraphernalia and a sum of cash.

Driver Jeremy Boyd, 39, of Banner, faces charges of improper equipment, operating a vehicle with expired operator’s license, trafficking controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking controlled substance (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to produce insurance card.

Police also arrested Boyd’s passengers, 38-year-old Pamela Hall of Printer, 56-year-old James Huff of Pippa Passes and 44-year-old Shawna Huff of Pippa Passes. They are facing trafficking controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking controlled substance (heroin) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The four were lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
