INEZ, Ky. — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s office reported the following arrests:
James Muncy, 40, of Inez, was arrested Tuesday in the courthouse in Inez for public intoxication of a controlled substance. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd reports Muncy was in the courtroom waiting for his court case to be called when he noticed him falling over in his seat and catching himself repeatedly. When Muncy walked out to the hall with the officer, he had difficulty keeping his balance and could not complete field sobriety tests. Muncy told the officer that he had used Suboxone.
Miranda Michelle Chafin, 31, of Ransom, was arrested Sunday on Route 292 near 10842 Riverfront Road, Huntleyville, for second-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified) and five bench warrants for court. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd reports that he was assisting Sheriff Kirk on Route 292 when Chafin pulled out of her jeans pocket what she identified as a “suboxone strip” and stated she did not have a prescription.
Melissa Mahon, 44, of Williamson, West Virginia, was arrested Sunday on Route 292 near 10842 Riverfront Road, Huntleyville, for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and a bench warrant for court. Kidd reports that he was assisting Sheriff Kirk on Route 292 when Mahon pulled out a clear bag containing a white powder substance and stated it was heroin.
Stephen Maynard, 47, of Williamson, West Virginia, was arrested Sunday on Route 292 near 10842 Riverfront Road, Huntleyville, for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), prescription controlled substance not in proper container, and drug paraphernalia-buy/possession. Deputy Kidd was assisting Sheriff Kirk at the location when Maynard indicated the pills, identified as Valium, the glass pipe, and the bag containing a crystal white substance were his.
James Jude, 44, of Debord, was arrested Sunday for alcohol intoxication in a public place, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), menacing and resisting arrest. KSP Trooper Salyer made the arrest.
George Dwight Maynard, 48, of Lenore, West Virginia, was arrested Sunday on Route 292 near 10842 Riverfront Road, Huntleyville, for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), giving officer false identifying information and a bench warrant. Kidd was assisting Sheriff Kirk at the location when Maynard gave officers a false name and information “because I had warrants,” as he stated. Kidd says Maynard also admitted a bag of meth was his.” Officers found the meth under a plastic part of an engine cover where Maynard was standing. Kidd says the bag looked “unweathered.”
Barbara Jean Gordon, 42, of Debord, was arrested Friday at the Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden, West Virginia, and transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on a bench warrant out of Martin County. Deputy Dennis Hall made the arrest.
Taylor G. Howell, 24, of Pilgrim, was arrested Thursday on Rockhouse Road, Tomahawk, for receiving stolen property under $500. Deputy Kidd reports that Howell was at a residence on Rockhouse Road when the deputy was serving a warrant on another subject. Located in the back of a truck were over 100 feet of aluminum coated wire, several bundles of copper wire and several feet of aluminum guide wire. Howell stated he and another male cut and took the items from the Martiki strip job.
Jason D. Mollett, 42, of Tomahawk, was arrested Thursday on Rockhouse Road, Tomahawk, for receiving stolen property under $500 and a bench warrant for court. Deputy Kidd was serving a bench warrant on Mollett when he discovered Mollett had over 100 feet of aluminum coated wire, several bundles of copper wire and several feet of aluminum guid4e wire. According to the police report, Mollett stated that he and another male cut and took the wire from the Martiki strip job.
Paul Ervin Ward, 43, of Tomahawk, was arrested Thursday on Big Lick Branch Road, Inez, for alcohol intoxication in a public place. Deputy David Adams responded to a complaint about a man crying and another male cussing on Big Lick Branch Road. Ward was in a bottom beside the road with another male and a female when the deputy arrived and “was extremely under the influence … could barely stand and had slurred speech.” The police report states the other male was trying to calm Ward and get him to go to the house and go to bed, but Ward kept trying to fight with the other male and pushed him. Adams reports Ward advised that he had been drinking all day.
Mary Marcum, 30, of Pilgrim, was arrested Thursday on a bench warrant for Martin District Court. Deputy Adams made the arrest.
Samuel Ray Preston, 42, of Tomahawk, was arrested Thursday for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, all-terrain vehicle violations, failure to maintain required insurance and license to be in possession. Deputy Adams reports Sheriff Kirk made a traffic stop on Preston for all-terrain vehicle violations and could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Preston’s breath. According to the police report, Preston’s Intoxilyzer result was .120, and Preston advised he had drunk half a pint of vodka.
Michael D. Johnson, 36, of Crab Orchard, transferred state controlled intake prisoner.
