Two arrested in Wayne County drug investigation

WAYNE, W.Va. — Wayne County Sheriff Rick Thompson stated that two drug suspects were arrested Sunday in Mingo County and the Prichard area.

Sheriff Thompson stated that Harmon “Odell” Whitt was arrested in Mingo County on various charges, including warrants stemming from an investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit. The investigation was conducted between the Crum and Dunlow communities.

Whitt is charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute heroin, and pseudoephedrine altered.
Another suspect was arrested in this investigation.

Sheriff Thompson stated Andy “AJ” Maynard was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Unit for warrants from a previous investigation.

Maynard is charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to deliver fentanyl after the Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit collected prepackaged fentanyl and digital scales. Methamphetamine and pills were also found on a second suspect already arrested. Another person present for Maynard’s arrest was also arrested for warrants unrelated to the investigation.

Sheriff Thompson stated that Maynard was already out on bond from a 2022 drug and firearm investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff Drug Enforcement Unit.
