Tug Valley turns back the Tide

SETH, W.Va. — The Tug Valley Panthers turned back the Sherman Tide 78-58 to win their 12th game in a row and improve their regular season record to 17-3 in a game Feb. 14.

Tug Valley, ranked No. 2 in Class A in West Virginia, saw Ashton Davis score 11 and Parker Davis seven in the first quarter to take an early 27-18 lead.

The Panthers led 47-34 at halftime as Parker Davis fired in 11 more points in the second period.

Tug Valley outscored the home team 18-11 in the third quarter to pad its lead and then coasted to the victory.

The Panthers of Coach Garland “Rabbit” Thompson placed four players in double digits. P. Davis finished with 20, A. Davis scored 16, Buddy Marcum banked in 14 and Joey Gollihue swished in 13 points. Braydun Ferris and Jonathan Wagoner both scored four points, while Brady Brewer, Jaden Hale and Paul Preece each scored two and Bryson Elia tacked on a free throw for one.

TVHS shot a hot 65% from the floor, including 9-21 from 3-point land and made 3-6 at the foul line for 50%.

A.J. Skeens led Sherman with 20 points.

Tug Valley shoots down Hillbillies

NAUGATUCK – Tug Valley downed sectional foe Man 79-47 Friday night to improve to 18-3 on the season.

It was the 14th straight win for the Panthers of Coach Garland “Rabbit” Thompson.

Sophomore guard Joey Gollihue fired in 31 points to lead Tug Valley in scoring. Braydun Ferris was next with 11 points, while Parker Davis had eight, Kaden Hale eight, Ashton Davis six, and Buddy Marcum and Paul Preece each scored four. Several players saw action for the Panthers against the Man Hillbillies. Jace Hale, Carson Newsome and Bryson Elia each scored a basket for two points for TVHS.

Trace Doty led Man with 13 points, while Kaleb Mullins added 12.

Tug Valley led 43-27 at the half and outscored the Hillbillies 24-10 in the third quarter to cruise to the victory.

The Panthers hosted Westside on Monday for their final regular season game.
