PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Martin County Cardinals Junior Varsity lost to a good Shelby Valley team to finish as runner-up in the 15th Region JV Invitational held Saturday at Prestonsburg High School.
The Cardinals entered the tournament as the defending champion. They defeated Lawrence County 59-48 in the opening round, Prestonsburg 47-24 in the semifinal and dropped the championship game 33-31 to Shelby Valley.

Three Martin County JV players scored double figures to lead the Cardinals to a 59-48 whipping of the Lawrence County Bulldogs in the opening round of the 15th Region JV Invitational.
