INEZ — A Martin County High School student was charged with fourth-degree assault Friday morning after attacking and injuring another student in the bathroom, police say.
Martin County Chief Deputy Sheriff says he was at the high school on an unrelated call when the victim came in with a bleeding cut on his head.
The victim identified his attacker as 18-year-old William Crum of Tomahawk.
Kidd says Crum came to the school office and stated he struck the victim twice in the face with a closed fist, adding that he had “done it for a girl.”
Crum will answer the assault charge at 9 a.m. Feb. 27 in Martin District Court.
In addition to the criminal charge, the attacker was suspended from school.
