Armanda Johnson

1937—2023

Armanda Johnson, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home.

She was born June 30, 1937 in Martin County to the late Earl and Ella Horn of Inez. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Willie Johnson; grandchildren, Bobby (BJ) Horn, Crystal Bowen and David Bowen Jr.; brothers, Claude, Harvey, Allen and Roy; and sisters, Sally Spence, Eloise Spence, Peachie Maynard, Nadine Lunsford, Irene Horn, Dolly Horn, Pauline Maynard and Oliveine Bowen.

Armanda is survived by her children, Nadine and Haskel Mills, Mary Lou Estep and Virginia and David Bowen, Cody (Haley) Kirk, all of Inez; grandchildren, Melissa Slone of Inez, Heather (Cody) Brown, Jessica (Cody) Prater of Louisa, David Lee (Deanna) Bowen and Justin (Julia) Mills of Inez; great-grandchildren, Blake Deyo, Kaiden and Korbin Brown of Louisa, Ethan Prater, Hunter, Camron and Audrey Bowen of Inez, Paige and Harper Hicks from Louisa, Mason (Abby) Gordon, Bobby Gordon and Adian Horn of Inez, Lexie (Luke Dingess) Slone of Morehead and Coty Phelps of Paintsville; and one great-great grandson, Baylor. She is also survived by her sisters, Pricie (Hershel) Kelly, Ada Harden and Myrtle (Johnny) Kirk, all of Inez; one special niece, Linda May (Steve) Nunly of Ohio, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the Vineyard United Baptist Church, with David Bowen and Richard Doc Maynard officiating. Burial was at the Johnson Family Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
