Elias Perry Sr.
1952—2023
Elias Perry Sr., 71, of Saltpetre Road, Fort Gay, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 20, 2023.
Born Jan. 10, 1952 in Logan, W.Va., he was the son of the late Woodrow Perry Sr. and Mary (Maynard) Perry.
Elias graduated from Crum High School in 1971 and Marshall University in 1975. He was a retired Wayne County school teacher and a devoted member and minister of the Catlettsburg Church of Christ. His life’s desire, for the past 36 years, was to lead others to Christ.
Elias is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shelby Jean (Messer) Perry; two sons, Elias Jr. and wife Vicky Perry of Fort Gay, W.Va., and Jeremy Sr. and wife Kristina Perry of South Shore. He was the loved papaw of three grandchildren, Jeremy Perry Jr., Rylan Conner Perry and Breanna Nicole Perry. He is also survived by two brothers, Woodrow Perry Jr of Maple, N.C., and Norman Michael Perry of Dunlow, W.Va., and a host of loving family and friends.
Elias’ final wish for all was to study the word: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023 at Callaham Funeral Home in Inez by Jeremy Perry Sr. Burial was in Elias Perry Sr. Memorial Cemetery at Saltpetre Road, Fort Gay, W.Va. Arrangements were under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
