Hello, Cardinal nation! This week’s Bird’s Eye View is brought to you by Kirsten Wells.

The past and upcoming weeks have been very eventful.

To start, the school’s “Frozen Jr” production had play rehearsals, and everyone is looking forward to the final production!

Coming up Feb. 16, the Martin County High School’s JAG KY class will have its regional competition. Students must submit pre-judged events Feb. 1 to be eligible for competition. Other events will be judged live via zoom Feb. 16.

Today the Senior Travel Club met and discussed the trip they will be taking in late April. The seniors are very excited about this trip.

Now let’s talk about sports!

The baseball and softball schedules have been revealed! Anyone who would like to observe that schedule can go to scoreboard.khsaa.org.

The wrestling team will travel to George Rogers Clark in Winchester and compete in the state duals on Jan. 28!

Last but certainly not least, as all Cardinal fans know, the boys basketball team has really shown out this season for all the Cardinal fans. The boys will travel to Richmond on Thursday, Jan. 26, to compete in the State All “A”! They will go head-to-head against Harlan to advance in the All-A! The game starts at 10 a.m.

Martin County High School’s Academic Team had a fantastic weekend. They had multiple students place in various categories. We were District Runner-Up Overall Champion and District Runner-Up Quick Recall Champion.

Evan Alexander placed fifth in Math, Erickson Mills placed fifth in Science, Russell Maynard placed fifth in Language Arts, and Vincent Lawson placed fourth in Language Arts. Lawson also placed third in Arts and Humanities.

We were District Runner-Up Future Problem Solving Champions.
