Lowell Thomas Marcum

1942—2023

Lowell Thomas Marcum, 80, of Breeden, W.Va., passed away at his home Jan. 10, 2023.

Born Nov. 15, 1942 in Breeden, W.Va., he was the son of the late Shirley Macel and Everett Marcum. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Everett Marcum Jr. and Clarence Beardog Marcum and his sister, Edith Marcum.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 60 years, Geraldine Chafins Marcum, and children Jeffery Lowell Marcum, Sharon Marcum (John Lowe), Crystal (Brent) Newsome, Melissa (Johnny) Collins, Jeffrey Thomas (Kim) Marcum, Austin Marcum, Hunter Marcum and Hayleigh Marcum.

He cherished his grandchildren, Jen (Jimmy) Payne, Joe Marcum, Jason (Amber) Marcum, Brandon (Jaunita) Marcum, Nathan Marcum, Tommy (Jessica) Marcum, Alyssa Marcum, Aaron Marcum, Christopher (Brooke) Newsome, Joshua (Makayla) Newsome, Crissy Newsome, Brantley Newsome, Angelina Collins, Isaiah Collins, Ezra Collins, Maci Collins, Tiffany Marcum, Mia Marcum, Liam Marcum and Josh Marcum; a multitude of great-grandchildren; his sisters, Patricia Coverdale and Kay (Dwight) Deskins; and his brothers, Lionel Marcum, Jerry Marcum and Tim (Hazel) Marcum.

Lowell served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a wise man that could repair anything and would lend a helping hand to anyone.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 at Mullins Family Funeral Home, Warfield, with James Ed Baisden officiating. Burial was in the Chafins Cemetery on Marrowbone. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
