BY BAILEY DIALS and KEILAN JEWELL
Hello, Cardinal Nation! This week’s Bird’s Eye View is brought to you by Bailey Dials and Keilan Jewell. This has been a very busy week, so let’s get started.
The first technical rehearsal for Martin County High School’s production of “Frozen” will take place Jan. 27, directed by Michelle Harless. The showings of this play will be March 28-30. We are very excited to see the finished production.
FCCLA members will also be on WSAZ to promote and publicize their organization and to explain what it is and all they do.
This week has been a busy one for basketball. First, the Lady Cards were eliminated from the All-A tournament after finishing as runner-up. The boys advanced, beating Paintsville with a score of 70-51 and East Ridge 97-57 and finally winning the championship 72-70 over Pikeville.
We have also had a great week for wrestling. At Tates Creek, the students who placed in their respective weight classes are Julian Stafford (first), Parker Maynard (first), Weston Jude (first), Madden Miller (second), Rafe Price (second), Caleb Costa (third).
Wrestler Mikie Reynolds says, “We went down there and showed them that wrestling in the mountains is no joke!”
Our spring sports, including softball and baseball, have begun having open practices to get ready for the season. Martin County High School has also announced sign-ups for our esports team. The team will play the games League of Legends, Madden, and Rocket League. Esports is a growing industry, and we are excited to see what our students can do.
Last but not least, ACT Mom is coming back to MCHS! Feb. 14-16 are the days that ACT Mom will make her return to help our students prepare themselves for the upcoming ACT in March. Students completed contracts to solidify their commitment to the program.
This has been Bailey Dials and Keilan Jewell! Thank you for reading, and we will see you next week with another edition of the Bird’s Eye View!
