EASTERN — A Floyd County man was arrested last week after deputies say they caught him and another man cutting down phone and internet cable.

Floyd County deputies responded to a call at 3 a.m. Dec. 21 in the Goose Creek community of Eastern, where an AT&T employee said he was watching the two men cutting the company’s cables.

When officers arrived, one of the men ran into the hills and escaped.

Police arrested Eddie Shepherd, 48, of David, on a charge of theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 and criminal mischief causing damage over $10,000.

He was lodged in the Floyd County Jail.
