Winferd Harless

1939—2022

Winferd Harless, age 83, of Louisa, passed away Dec. 14, 2022 at his residence.

He was born March 8, 1939 in Martin County to the late Walker K. and Gladys Osborne Harless. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ivory Harless; two sons, Billy Joe Harless and Winferd Harless Jr.; three brothers, Floyd Harless, Clarence Harless and George L. Harless; two sisters, Ethel Crum and Susie Workman; two daughters-in-law, Pauline Harless and Julie Harless; one sister-in-law, Trudy Harless; and two brothers-in-law, Russell Workman and Flem Cook.

Survivors include three sons, Leroy (Barbara) (Cassandra Jarrell) Harless of Louisa, Billy (Julie) Harless of Paintsville and George Harless of Tomahawk; three daughters, Edna (Tony) Jones and Jeanie (Hubert) Spence, both of Inez, and Loretta Melanson of Florida; two brothers, Homer Harless and Bob Harless, both of Inez; three sisters, Mary Harless and Irene Cook, both of Inez, and Rushie (Johnny) Pelican of Mississippi; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Harless, Helen Harless and Connie Harless; and one brother-in-law, Dennis Crum. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022 at the New Friendship Church with John Goble officiating. Burial was at the Harless Cemetery under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
