Logan downs Tug Valley for first loss of season

LOGAN — The Panthers lost their first game of the season to Class AAA Logan Dec. 13 at Willie Akers Arena in Logan 84-75.

Tug Valley played close in the first half only trailing 22-21 after one quarter and the game was tied at the half 39-all.

The Wildcats outscored Tug Valley 28-20 in the 28-16 in the final period to pull away with the homecourt victory.

Parker Davis led the Panthers with 24 points, Ashton Davis added 18 points and Joey Gollihue chipped in 17.

Logan placed four players in double figures led by sharpshooter Stevie Browning with 24 points, while Garrett Williamson scored 21, Julius Clancy 14 and Jarron Glick 13.

Coach Garland “Rabbit” Thompson’s Panthers were slated to host Belfry on Friday, but the game was postponed due to flu and injuries on the Pirates squad and coaching staff.
