Lady Cards outrun Raceland

RACELAND — The Martin County Lady Cardinals outran the Lady Rams of Raceland 70-45 in a Dec. 13 game on the road.

All five starters got on the board in the first quarter to help the Lady Cardinals go up 15-9.

The Lady Cardinal defense showed up in the second quarter and held Raceland to a single digit quarter of five points.

The Lady Cardinals went in at the half up 26-14.

The third quarter saw Katie Marcum score 10 of her 18 points to break the offense open. The Lady Cards put up 24 points to push their lead out 50-32 going into the fourth quarter.

Team stats showed the Lady Cardinals shooting 27 of 60 for 45% from the field. They connected on 13 of 18 from the free-throw line for 72%.

Junior Laken Williams was steady for all four quarters scoring 25 points to lead all scorers.

Junior Katie Marcum followed with 18 points, four boards and three steals.

Freshman Brooke Marcum contributed 11 points, four boards, four assists and three steals.

Junior Kennadi Mollette was 4 of 7 from the field, netting nine points and four rebounds.

Junior Alyssa Allen saw limited playing time due to early foul trouble. Allen scored three points and led the Lady Cards in rebounds with five.

Sophie Harless and Sophie McCoy each scored two points.

Nim Maynard led Raceland with 19, Mackie followed with 14, Brookelynn Campbell netted five points, Bryna Wellman scored four points, Chasity Thomas added two points and Gracie Gartin finished with one point.
