Delbarton man wounded in shooting in downtown Williamson

Devin Browning was arrested Thursday in Williamson.

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — There were police vehicles and blue lights flashing all around in downtown Williamson after a shooting Thursday afternoon near the Mingo County Courthouse.

The incident sent a man to the hospital and ended with another man being arrested, according to the Williamson Police Department Chief John Dotson.

The victim was identified as Chad Hunt, 44, of Delbarton.

The WPD said Hunt suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen at an apartment in downtown Williamson. He was taken to Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville with non-life-threatening injuries.

Chief Dotson said Hunt was able to walk to the nearby courthouse to get assistance. 

Devin Browning, 22, of Belfry, was arrested without incident.

Browning is charged with one count of malicious wounding and three counts of wanton endangerment.

The shooting was reported just before 3:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Logan Street. The WPD stated the incident was domestic-related.
