Opal (Gilliam)Maynard 

1938—2022

Opal (Gilliam) Maynard, 84, of Beauty, passed away Dec. 10, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.

She was born Feb. 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Kenny and Viola (Runyon) Gilliam. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Truman Maynard, son James Russell Maynard and brothers Foster Gilliam and Carl Gilliam.

Opal was a retired head cook at the Martin County Board of Education as she worked at Pigeon Roost Elementary School. 

Opal is survived by sons Truman Maynard Jr. of Inez and Roger Dale Maynard of Louisa, daughters Carolyn (Randall) Sweeney of Beauty, Connie Maynard and Betty (Gary) Fletcher, both of Inez, and Sharon (Paul) Maynard of Union Town. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a special friend Louella Mollett of Beauty. 

Funeral services were conducted Dec. 12, 2022 at the Mullins Family Funeral Home in Warfield with Lonnie Ratliff officiating. Burial was at the Fletcher-Maynard Cemetery in Inez. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
