Constable Bradford Preece reported that he received a call concerning a domestic in progress and that the homeowner had a gun and was threatening to shoot people. Taylor Gorden Howell, 34, of Lovely, was cited for violation of air pollution standards and ruled Friday at Maynard Flats in Lovely. Deputy David Adams was patrolling North Wolf Creek when he observed a large fire on Maynard Flats that appeared to be a truck on fire. Upon investigation, the deputy discovered Howell standing beside a truck burning the plastic coating off the main phone lines. Adams asked Howell where the phone lines came from, and he advised he got the lines from the Mariki strip earlier when he went deer hunting at approximately 1300 hours. Howell stated he did not cut the lines off the pole and that they had already been lying on the ground for a while.
“The line was still shiny and didn’t have any dirt/mud buildup to be consistent with the statement that the lines had been on the ground for a while,” said Adams.

Tommy Reed, 50, of Warfield, was arrested Friday on Route 292 in Lovely for alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct and menacing. Deputy David Adams responded to a call to dispatch by Misty McKinney, who said Tommy Reed threatened her with a firearm, and she was able to escape and was at the Lovely Zip Zone. McKinney allegedly advised Adams that Reed had been drinking and began trying to fight her son. She alleged Reed pulled a gun and shot at her son through the bedroom window.
Adams found Reed sitting on the couch drinking whiskey out of a bottle. The deputy asked Reed what was going on and Reed allegedly stated, “Her queer sons were staying there and I ain’t letting them suck [explicit] where I’m at,” referring to McKinney’s sons. According to Adams, Reed stated he had been at the residence for two days. The deputy advised Reed that McKinney no longer wanted him there.
“While trying to contact multiple people to come get the above subject, he kept cussing and stating, ‘Take me to jail. I don’t want to be around these two fagots anyways,’” Adams reported. “Reed looked a McKinney, puffed his chest out and said, ‘You will regret calling the law on me.’ I asked what he meant, and he stated, ‘She knows what I mean.’”
