INEZ — An Inez man went to jail after allegedly assaulting a woman with a handgun Nov. 23 on Turkey Creek Road.
Dwayne Crum, 20, of Inez, was arrested for second-degree assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and fleeing or evading police.
Martin County Deputy Chris Kidd was dispatched to a residence on Turkey Creek at approximately 12:30 p.m. after 911 dispatch received a call reporting a male holding a woman down with a gun and firing it outside the residence.
Upon arrival, the deputy learned Crum had struck the woman in the face with the gun and fled the scene.
According to the police report, when Kidd located Crum at a residence on Church Fork Road, Crum ran on foot around the side of the house and appeared to throw an object into a grassy area. The object was later identified as the handgun used to injure the female.
The victim provided law enforcement with a video of the alleged crime, which showed Crum with the handgun.
The female declined medical attention but had marks on her face that she said resulted from being struck with the gun.
