INEZ — The Martin County Cardinals are the Mountain Citizen Players of the Week.

Coach Josh Muncy’s squad fought a war in a mud pit Saturday at Breathitt County in the second round of state playoffs to finish the season with a 7-5 record and 2A District 8 runner-up.

The Cardinals represented Martin County with pride and grit all season long. Even without the last game stats, Martin County finished the week as the KHSAA No. 1-ranked rushing team in Class 2A.
