Martin County Arrest Report

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s office reported the following arrests:

Blake Spaulding

Blake Spaulding, 23, of Williamson, W.Va., was arrested Friday in Lovely for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and public intoxication (excludes alcohol). Deputy David Adams made the arrest.

Shane Ward

Shane Ward, 23, of Inez, was arrested Friday at Dempsey Housing in Warfield for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, no registration plates and no registration receipt. Deputy Billy Patrick responded to a call about a white Oldsmobile being driven through the Dempsey Housing complex by a possible intoxicated person. Accompanied by K-9 Zoe, Patrick located the vehicle in front of Apartment 4 and asked Ward if he had any illegal narcotics. Ward allegedly advised he had some “dab” (wax THC) under the seat. Upon searching, Patrick allegedly found a rock of meth in a bag on the driver’s side floor and a black box under the seat containing the dab. He also reported finding more rock meth in a glass vial under the seat and scales in Ward’s back pocket.

George Chapman, 31, of Warfield, was arrested Friday at Dempsey Housing in Warfield for alcohol intoxication in a public place. Deputy Chris Kidd was investigating a case at Dempsey when he encountered Chapman and noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Chapman’s person. According to Kidd, Chapman stated he drank “Bootleggers” before the deputy’s arrival.

Jason Fields

Jason Fields, 38, of Lovely, was arrested Friday on Route 3 in Debord for public intoxication and drug paraphernalia buy/possession. Deputy Kidd reported Fields was sitting in a vehicle passed out at Zip Zone. Fields appeared intoxicated upon waking, with pinpoint pupils and pronounced nystagmus in both eyes, according to the police report. The deputy allegedly found two used syringes with needles in the glove box.

Betty Allen

Betty Allen, 31, of Pilgrim, was arrested Friday at Dempsey Housing in Warfield for public intoxication and criminal trespassing. Deputy Kidd was on the scene of an investigation at Dempsey when he encountered Allen. According to the police report, Allen appeared under the influence and stated all she did all day was “weed.” Allen was also on the Dempsey banned list.

Curt Spence

Curt Spence, 34, of Warfield, was arrested Thursday at Dempsey Housing in Warfield on a bench warrant for court. Kidd made the arrest.

Paul Spaulding

Paul Spaulding, 41, of Columbus, Ohio, was arrested Thursday at St. Marys Correctional Center in St. Marys, W.Va., on a bench warrant for court. Sheriff Kirk made the arrest.

Leatha Tackett-Smith

Leatha Tackett-Smith, 60, of Warfield, was arrested Nov. 9 in Inez on a bench warrant for court. Adams made the arrest.

Matthew Clayton Moore

Matthew Clayton Moore, 38, of Pilgrim, was arrested Nov. 9 on Turkey Creek Road in Inez for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Deputy Kidd responded to a female caller who said Moore was in her car threatening to kill her and acting erratic. The female was in a red Kia, stuck in traffic on Turkey Creek Road. Kidd said he noticed Moore sitting in the car and approached and asked him to submit to a patdown for safety. Upon patting Moore down, Kidd allegedly found a small clear bag containing a clear crystal substance in Moore’s right front pocket. According to Kidd, Moore stated, “It’s not that much meth.”

Jeffery Cooper

Jeffery Cooper, 33, of Warfield, was arrested Nov. 9 for a parole violation (for technical violation). Officer Bryant made the arrest.

Tyler Harless, 24, of Tomahawk, was arrested Nov. 9 in Inez on a bench warrant for court. Adams made the arrest.
