INEZ — Set your sights on the Cardinals girls and boys basketball squads at the annual Cardinal Madness Red-White Game set for at Martin County High School.
The day consists of elementary and middle school basketball games starting at noon.
Both teams are selling tickets for $10 each, which gets a fan a spaghetti dinner from 4-6 p.m. and all games Saturday.
Coach Robin Newsome and her Lady Cards will open the evening after dinner with a scrimmage and team introductions at 6 p.m.
Coach Jason “JJ” James presents his Cardinal boys team at 7 p.m.
The girls squad returns Katie Marcum, Laken Williams, Kennadi Mollett, Hallie Mills and Tamara Workman, to name a few. This year’s team has no seniors but plenty of leadership in the junior class.
Coach Newsome is “always happy” to host the Red-White game.
“It’s a great way for the community to be introduced to the teams. The girls like showing what we’ve been working on in practice,” said Newsome.
Coach James returns a guard-heavy line-up that is sure to shock teams this year. Basketball fans will love the speed and tempo of this year’s squad. Luke Hale, Blake Maynard, Matt Linville, Peyton Davis and Dray Duff are some returners that will see big minutes this season.
“The Red-White game is a perfect opportunity for Martin County to catch a glimpse of the hard work we’ve put in so far. With this and the Zip Zone Classic on Nov. 26, basketball is here and we’re ready to get going,” said James.
