INEZ — A Martin County grand jury returned 14 true bills against 13 individuals Thursday. Six indictments involve methamphetamine and two separate indictments accuse suspects of attempting to assault a Martin County Sheriff’s deputy.
These are the indictments:
Billy Perry, 47, “unknown,” was indicted on one count of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, second offense. The indictment states that on Sept. 8, Perry was in possession of methamphetamine. His bail is $5,000.
Asiaa Meeks, 25, of Inez, was indicted on one count of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree. The indictment states that on Sept. 3, Perry was in possession of methamphetamine. His bail is $5,000.
James Harless, 56, of Lovely, was indicted on first-degree possession of a controlled substance, second offense. The indictment states Harless was in possession of methamphetamine Oct. 11 and had a prior conviction. His bail is $5,000.
Christopher Marcum, 47, of Inez, was indicted for third-degree assault of a police/probation officer. The indictment accuses Marcum of attempting to assault Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy David Adams on Oct. 25. His bond is $5,000.
Christopher Marcum, 47, of Inez, was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance. The indictment accuses Marcum of having methamphetamine in his possession Aug. 12. His bond is $5,000.
Adam Maynard, 38, of Pilgrim, was indicted for third-degree assault of a police/probation officer. The indictment states Maynard attempted to assault Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy David Adams on Oct. 19. His bond is $5,000.
Jeremy Harmon, 42, of Warfield, was indicted for second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault. The indictment states that on Aug. 25, Harmon committed strangulation of Cora White and physically assaulted Desire Scott. His bond is $5,000.
Christopher Ratliff, 43, of Louisa, was indicted for fleeing/evading in the first degree, criminal mischief in the first degree, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license and all-terrain vehicle violations. The indictment states that Aug. 26, Ratliff disregarded signals and commands to stop given by Deputy David Adams, damaged property of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office with the damage estimated to exceed $1,000, operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended or revoked, and operated an ATV on a roadway. His bond is $5,000.
Lonnie Jude, 46, of Pilgrim, was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance. The indictment states Jude was in possession of methamphetamine Aug. 12. His bond is $5,000.
Charlene Carter, 31, of Lovely, was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance. The indictment states that on Sept. 20, Carter was in possession of methamphetamine. Her bond is $5,000.
Christopher Maynard, 45, of Pilgrim, was indicted for first-degree possession of a controlled substance. The indictment accuses Maynard of having methamphetamine in his possession Sept. 13. His bond is $5,000.
Austin Lee Maynard, 28, of Inez, was indicted for third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, public intoxication and first-degree indecent exposure. The indictment states that on July 24 Maynard entered the dwelling of Jim and Linda Booth of Inez with the intent to commit a crime of theft; defaced, destroyed and damaged property owned by Jim Booth; was under the influence of a controlled substance to a degree that he might endanger himself or others or unreasonably annoy persons in his vicinity; exposed his genitals under circumstances in which he knew or should have known would cause alarm or afront. His bond is $5,000.
Blake J. Spaulding, 23, of Williamson, W.Va., was indicted for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and public intoxication. The indictment states that on Oct. 8 Spaulding had a .22 caliber heritage Arms handgun after being previously convicted of a felony; was under the influence of a controlled substance. His bond is $5,000.
Kenneth Mollette, 30, of Beauty, was indicted for first-degree assault. The indictment states Mollette intentionally caused serious physical injury to Jason Fields by a deadly instrument Aug. 16. His bond is $20,000.
