CITIZEN STAFF REPORT
INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Donald Wiley, 36, of Debord, was arrested Saturday in Inez for disorderly conduct, menacing and resisting arrest. Deputy David Adams reported he was arresting suspects on warrants on Route 3 when Wiley pulled in at a high rate of speed and became aggressive and hostile. When officers told Wiley to calm down, he “became more aggressive,” prompting Adams to advise Wiley he was under arrest for disorderly conduct.
“He clenched his fist, squared up and said, ‘Come get me,’” Adams reported.
The officer then deployed a Taser, striking Wiley in the torso. Wiley pulled the Taser prongs out and charged toward Adams, prompting the deputy to use pepper spray. Again Wiley didn’t stop and proceeded to charge toward Deputy Billy Patrick. At this point, Adams used the Taser again, hitting Wiley in the back and knocking him down.

Deputy Adams attempted to make a traffic stop on Horn to arrest a male in the vehicle with her, but Horn ignored the officer’s emergency equipment and fled down Old Middle Fork Road. Kidd turned on his siren and pursued Jude at speeds in excess of 74 mph. Jude ran the stoplight at Route 645/Blacklog Road and proceeded on Blacklog Road, passing vehicles across the double yellow line. He turned on Mac Pinson Drive and crashed into blocks in a ditch. According to Kidd, Jude said he swallowed fentanyl, and that’s why he ran. In a post-arrest search, the officer found 2-1/2 suboxone in a blue can along with a syringe and needle.
