Logan County man sentenced in child pornography case

Investigators found over 1,200 images on laptop

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A federal judge sentenced a Logan County man Thursday to prison for child pornography crimes.

Raymond Dugan, 55, of Logan, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release time.

According to a news release from U.S. Attorney Will Thompson, a federal jury found Dugan guilty following a one-day trial.

The prosecutor says law enforcement executed a search warrant at Dugan’s residence June 11, 2020 after tracing an IP address that had been used to access a website on the dark web that was known to share child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

Officers seized several electronic devices during the search, including a laptop computer that contained 1,237 images of child pornography. Some images depicted prepubescent minors subjected to sadistic and masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence.

“There can be no tolerance under the law for anyone who exploits or preys upon children,” said Thompson.
