INEZ — Martin County football player Damian Cheek made the play of the week Friday against West Carter.
The Cardinal defense forced the West Carter quarterback to scramble and sail a pass to midfield. Cheek was waiting in the weeds and swooped in for the interception. He went 43 yards down the right sideline into the end zone for a pick 6.
Cheek also forced and recovered a fumble that he ran 10 yards. On defense, he had six solo tackles.
The sophomore ranks seventh in Class 2A with four interceptions for 123 yards.
