Mount View upsets Tug Valley

Panthers fall to 5-2

NAUGATUCK — Mount View upset the Tug Valley Panthers 32-7 at Bob Brewer Stadium in Naugatuck on Friday night.

The loss dropped Tug Valley’s record to 5-2 on the season, but they are still in the Class A playoff hunt in the Mountain State. Coach Hady Ford was not pleased with his team’s performance.

The Knights from McDowell County, W.Va., jumped out to an 18-0 lead after one quarter and took that advantage into the dressing room at the half. They outscored the Panthers 14-7 in the third quarter to pull away with the win.

Mount View had 410 yards of total offense, while Tug Valley had 337 yards. However, the difference was on the scoreboard.

Adam Slone led Tug Valley in rushing with 138 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown. Bryson Elia rushed for 35 yards and Elijah Fluty 32.

Fluty, the TV quarterback, was 10-22 passing for 145 yards and three interceptions.

Ashton Davis caught three passes for 83 yards, while Brady Brewer had four receptions for 61 yards.

Caleb Totten kicked the extra point after the lone TVHS touchdown.

Jaylen Hall led View with 240 total yards on offense, 173 through the air and 69 rushing, with two touchdowns. Tanner Caves, Ryan Long and Jon Huff each scored TDs for the Knights.

Tug Valley will play host to Westside this week.
