Free movies, trick-or-treat, parties and more

INEZ — It’s that spectacularly spooky time of the year again. Youngsters will don their favorite Halloween costumes and be transformed into perhaps a super-hero, cartoon character or scary fright to trick or treat in the neighborhoods and attend plenty of special events.
All through October, it’s “Tuesday Night Terrors” at Movies on Main in Inez. Children’s crafts start at 5 p.m., followed by a children/family-friendly movie at 5:30. Then at 7:15 p.m., it’s adults-only horror movies. Movies are free. Concessions will be available for purchase.
The spooky spectacular annual Mills Family Halloween light display is bigger than ever this Halloween season. Junior and Diane Mills invite everyone to visit the exhibition located 1-1/2 miles up Little Blacklog Road in Inez. You won’t believe your eyes.
The Town of Kermit has set its annual trick-or-treat for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29.
Trick-or-treat in Martin and Mingo counties will be 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
Auxier Community Park in Prestonsburg will host the Eastern Kentucky Old Timers Cornhole Tournament n’ Halloween Bash starting at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21. Trunk-or-treating is 5-6 p.m. The event will feature a Spooky Hayride 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and children can ride for free. Registration for the costume blind draw cornhole tournament starts at 6:30 p.m. The entry fee is $10, and the competition begins at 7 p.m. The evening will end with the Auxier Harvest Moonlight Dance 8-10 p.m. Concessions will be available.
Trunk-or-treat at Kermit Park is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 22, sponsored by Panther Mart and A.B.L.E Families “Parents As Teachers” program. Contact Caressa Muncy, Adreana Kirk or Justin Kirk to reserve a spot.
Jenny Wiley State Resort Park will host a trunk-or-treat event 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.
Mark your calendars for a Preschool Storytime Halloween Party at the Martin County Public Libraries. The fun begins at 10 a.m. Oct. 25 at Rufus Reed in Lovely and Oct. 27 at the Collier Center in Inez. There will be games, snacks, stories and trick-or-treating in the library. Wear your costumes.
Pike County Libraries will welcome little ones Oct. 26 for stories and activities beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Pigeon Roost Community Center will host a Halloween party 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27. Come dressed in your costume and enjoy the fun, food and prizes.
Martin County Health Care Facility will hold a Halloween bash 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 29. The event will include a petting zoo, cruise-in, singing competition, kid-friendly haunted house and various vendors. Children and adults will want to dress in their costumes and compete for prizes in their respective categories for best costume.
The facility is searching for its own American Idol and will award the winner a $200 prize. To register or for more information, you can call 606-298-0091.
Spookfest starts at 5 p.m. Oct. 29 in downtown Williamson and will include vendors, music, trick or treating, a costume contest, a haunted alley, pumpkin carving contests, ghost stories and much more. The event is sponsored by the Tug Valley Area CVB.
Warfield Park Community Center will host a trunk-or-treat 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 and invites everyone to set up and hand out treats. The community center will serve hot chocolate, cookies and cupcakes.
Southside Mall will host Mall-tober Fest Oct. 31. The event starts at 6 p.m. and includes all stores passing out treats. The AIM group will sponsor a costume contest.
