Elmer Maynard

1937—2022

Elmer Maynard, 85, of Van Lear, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2022 at his home.

Elmer was born Sept. 10, 1937, to the late Nathan and Viola Sartin Maynard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Nathan Jay Maynard, Tennis Maynard and Leonard Maynard, sisters Bettey Johnson and Irene Marcum, his love of 32 years, Joann C. Davis and his oldest son Elmer Lee “Cowboy” Maynard.

Elmer leaves behind two sisters, Christine Grisco and Merline (Glen) Maynard; a brother, James Maynard; his children Steven (Cassarina) Maynard of Beauty, Tabitha Jane Staton of Paintsville, Ronnie (Mary) Maynard, Robin Burchett and Terry Maynard, all of Inez; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a stepdaughter, Tina (Troy) Jude of River; stepson, Scott (Tammy) Davis of Wolf Creek; and two great friends, Chester Butcher and Billy Dollarhide of Van Lear.

At his request, there was no service. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
