WARFIELD — The Warfield Community Park will host a Veterans Day ceremony and home-cooked meal Nov. 5 to honor those who have served to protect our nation, values and freedom.
Event coordinator Denise Chaffins welcomes everyone to attend the ceremony that starts at 10 a.m. Martin County JROTC tribute.
Each military branch will be honored and veterans will be introduced and acknowledged for their service. Veterans are invited to share their memories and tell their stories.
“Sometimes the greatest blessing we can bestow on a veteran is to gift of our time to just listen,” said Chaffins. “They have so many stories and often no one to share them with. Nov. 5 is the perfect time to prove that thanks to them. The flag still flies, America is still the land of the free and the home of the brave, and we will forever owe them a debt we can never repay.”
Family members who wish to honor veterans who have passed on can bring photos and other memorabilia to display.
Organizers are requesting donations to assist with funding the event, as well as drinks and food.
