Martin County Arrest Report

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Willie McCoy, 40, of Pilgrim, was arrested Tuesday in Beauty for receiving stolen property under $500, no registration plates and failure of owner to maintain required insurance. Deputy Chris Kidd made the arrest after encountering McCoy in a traffic stop. According to Kidd, admitted to stealing copper near Collins Creek.

Julian Preece, 23, of Inez, was arrested Monday in Inez for theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others $1,000-$10,000. Kidd arrested Preece at his home on Otto Drive, in connection with copper thefts in Martin County. Kidd reported that he found two burn piles containing cable at Preece’s residence. Allegedly Preece admitted his involvement and stated he had taken the processed copper to Mountain Metal in Prestonsburg and sold it for cash.

Blake Spaulding, 22, of Kermit, W.Va., was arrested Sunday at the intersection of Routes 2032 and 1714 in Pilgrim for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Constable Preece responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male coming to a neighbor’s house and located Spaulding. According to the police report, Spaulding was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. The officer found a .22 caliber Heritage firearm at the bottom of his jeans.

John T. Allen, 36, of Debord, was arrested Friday at Evans Pawn Shop in Inez on an indictment warrant. Kidd made the arrest.

Zachary Dials, 30, of Groundhog Hollow, Warfield, was arrested Friday in Inez for theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others $1,000-$10,000. According to the police report, Dials was involved in a copper wire theft case at multiple locations in Martin County. When Deputy Chris Kidd initially contacted Dials, he allegedly stated he had gotten the copper wire from three locations. The suspect gave a written statement and took law enforcement to where he purportedly had stolen the copper.

“A burn pile of the wire and copper was located at a garage in Groundhog Hollow,” Kidd reported. “When I made initial contact with the subject, he was standing over it and working the copper.”

Cody Gullett, 21, of Pilgrim, was arrested Friday in Inez for theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others $1,000-$10,000. Deputy Kidd reported that Gullett was implicated in several copper thefts in Martin County and gave police a statement indicating he had been to several locations in question and taken part in or been with individuals stealing telephone lines. Gullett turned himself in at the sheriff’s office.

Angela Mullins, 47, of Right Fork Georges Creek Road, Louisa, was arrested Thursday on Flora Johnson Road in Inez for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Deputy Kidd’s report states that Mullins called 911, saying she was being held against her will. When the officer arrived, Mullins stated she was not really being held but wanted to leave. She also said, “people might have put some meth on her.” She permitted the deputy to search her purse, where he found a small round container of clear crystal substance. Mullins allegedly told the deputy it belonged to her. 

James (Tyler) Harmon, 30, of Ernest Porter Drive, Debord, was arrested Oct. 5 at Riverside Apartments in Warfield for theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others $1,000-$10,000 and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Deputy Kidd reported that Harmon was involved with Julian Preece, also known as Alex Adkins, in cutting telephone wire in Warfield, burning it in Debord and selling it to Mountain Metal in Prestonsburg.

During the arrest, Harmon allegedly told Kidd that he “might” have some meth in his apartment and did not want his girlfriend or children to get in it.

“He took me to the living room and showed me a clear box containing baggies with a clear crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine,” Kidd stated.

Henry T. McCoy, 44, of Davis Branch, Inez, was arrested Oct. 5 at Riverside Apartments in Hode for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified). Deputy Billy Patrick encountered McCoy while serving a warrant at Riverside Apartments. The officer said McCoy became “really nervous,” so he asked if he had anything on him. McCoy gave Patrick some prescription pills.

“I asked if he had anything else on him, and he pulled his pockets inside out,” Patrick stated. “When he did, I saw a plastic bag in his right watch pocket. I asked him what it was, and he stated, ‘H,’ and said, ‘Maybe heroin.’ When I retrieved it from his pocket, he said, ‘No, it’s meth.’”

Timothy Speakman, 38, of Three D Road, Louisa, was arrested Oct. 5 at Riverside Apartments in Hode on a warrant for court. Deputy Kidd made the arrest.

Laura Speakman, 33, of Delong Branch Road, Fallsburg, was arrested Oct. 5 at Riverside Apartments in Hode on a bench warrant out of Lawrence County. Deputy Patrick made the arrest.

Jordan Stacy, 27, of North Wolf Creek, Lovely, was arrested Oct. 5 outside the courthouse in Inez for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Deputy Kidd’s report states that Stacy was walking down the road in Hode and Unit 65 offered him a ride. When Stacy entered the vehicle, a small bag of white powder substance fell from his front pocket. When Kidd encountered Stacy, he allegedly said it was “meth” in the bag.

Brandy Muncy, 38, of Bluejay Lane, Lovely, was arrested Oct. 4 in Inez on a bench warrant for court. Kidd made the arrest.

Beth Anne Lowe, 56, of Gilliam Street, Corbin, was arrested Oct. 4 at the courthouse in Inez on four bench warrants for court out of Whitley District Court. Constable Bradford Preece made the arrest.
