Three others indicted

INEZ — A Martin County grand jury indicted a man Tuesday for running from a constable.

James A. Moore, 52, of Lovely, was charged with first-degree fleeing/evading. The indictment states that on Sept. 10, Moore disregarded signals and commands to stop given by Martin County Constable Brad Preece.

Moore’s bond is $5,000.

The grand jury also indicted three other individuals.

Those indicted and the charges against them are:

• Jeremy Maynard, 39, of Lovely, was indicted for first-degree burglary. The indictment states that on May 5, Maynard entered the dwelling of Darlene Robinette in Lovely, armed with a deadly weapon and intending to commit a crime.

Maynard’s bail is $20,000.

• Jon Thomas Allen, 36, of Inez, was indicted for receiving stolen property over $1,000/under $10,000. The indictment states that on April 15 and 16, Allen had a generator and a pressure washer stolen from Brenda Perry of Inez.

Allen’s bond is $5,000.

• Leitha Tackett, 60, of Warfield, was indicted for two counts of intent to defraud/scheme/artifice to obtain benefits less than $10,000/complicity. According to the indictment, from April 1, 2020, through Nov. 30, 2020, Tackett made false statements or misrepresentations that resulted in an overpayment of SNAP benefits totaling $1,572. The second count of the indictment states that from Dec. 1, 2020, through April 30, 2021, she provided false information that resulted in an overpayment of Medicaid benefits totaling $5,152.33.

Tackett’s bond is $5,000.
