WARFIELD — Martin County Middle School Lady Cards improved to 9-5 after a blowout 47-4 win over Johns Creek in a game Sept. 12 at home.

Annaleigh Davis and Desirae Gullett continue putting up big numbers for the Cards.

Both players started hot and fired in eight and seven in the first quarter, respectively.

Martin County went into the second with a 17-2 lead and never looked back.

Farnham nailed a trey and a free throw in the third quarter.

Six players hit the scorebook in the high-scoring affair.

Gullett led the squad with a solid 14 points and Davis dropped 13. Alyssa Maynard was one point shy of double digits with nine points for the evening. Jane Smith had a smooth five and Lexi Cline added two off the bench.

“My girls got it done in the first half and we only pressed half a quarter,” Martin County Coach Boo Newsome. “We came out ready to play and the girls did awesome.”

The B-team lost a close one 18-19.

Martin County led the entire game until the final minute. The Cards could only hit one on a bonus situation to close out the game.

Caylee Moore had 14 of the team’s 18 points. Lexi Cline filled out the scoring column with four.

The girls are back in action Thursday at Belfry and have a home game Friday versus Dorton. Game time is 6 p.m.
