Gelilah Byrd, age 57, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Martin County, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at The James Cancer Hospital.

She was employed with Big Lots for over 35 years.

Gelilah was always a very happy and caring person. She was a better person than most people even thought they could be. She loved her family but could also keep everyone in line and together with her kindness and love. She would give anything to anyone and will be missed more than she would ever know.

She is preceded in death by her father, Glen Blackburn; brother Ronald Blackburn; and sister Glenna Rose Blackburn.

Survivors include her husband, Paul; mother, Rose Mary Blackburn; brothers Dean Blackburn and Douglas Blackburn; sisters Udella Cook, Emma Lou (Kevin) Sluss and Karen (Brent) Horn; nephews Brady, Jared, Andrew and Josh; nieces Katie and Ashley; numerous other family and friends.

Friends may call at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio, 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, where service will follow at 4 p.m. Additional calling hours at Callaham Funeral Home in Inez, 6-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, where service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022. Interment Blackburn Cemetery, Inez.
