Volleyball Cards rally to pick up three straight wins

INEZ — Martin County is on a winning streak. The girls volleyball team defeated both Buckhorn and Jenkins at home Saturday. On Sept. 6, won over Tug Valley.

After a slow start for the season, Coach Katie-White Patrick’s team picked up the first win of her Martin County coaching career against Tug Valley.

The Lady Cards, led by seniors Kirsten Wells and Hannah Robinson, won the first set against the Panthers 25-17. 

After a back-and-forth second set, the Cards picked up a much-needed first win defeating Tug Valley 29-27.

The ladies stayed on the winner’s high into Saturday at the Cardinal Classic in Inez.

Buckhorn put up a fight in the first set, but the Lady Cards pulled off the 25-23 win.

The second set was a dominating performance with a 25-15 win.

The next match of the day for the Cardinals was versus Jenkins. 

The first set was another tight one with Martin County staying on top 25-22. 

Jenkins ended the Cards five-set win streak by punching back with a 27-25 win.

This set up the third and deciding set.

With the taste of victory still lingering with the Lady Cards, they decided they wanted more.
