Hello, Cardinal Nation! It’s time for a rundown of this week’s events at Martin County High School, such as the football, soccer, and volleyball games, as well as information on The Smile Club, FCCLA, Harvest Fest and more, so buckle up because it’s been a big week!
To begin with, this week has been very eventful for Martin County athletics, starting with girls soccer having their All-A Region Tournament Sept. 7.
Another exciting thing that happened was the Cardinals playing their second home game of the 2022 season against Knott Central. The theme was “blackout,” and our very own band was there cheering the boys on.
Last, but certainly not least, the volleyball team got their first win of this season and swept Tug Valley, winning both sets with ease.
Next up, The Smile Club had a meeting to discuss members and other matters. The free ACT will be on Oct. 11 and the last day to sign up was Sept. 7.
Last week was also Suicide Prevention Week where everyone participated in a suicide awareness assembly. The school gave out recourses to use if you or anyone you know is going through a hard time and needs someone to talk to.
This year’s Harvest Fest will be Sept. 16 and 17. JAG will be holding a speech contest for the grades K-12 as well as adding a new division for post-secondary graduates through 100 or older. For more information on the matter, please contact co-executive director Marcie Hanson.
The Smile Club and FCCLA will also be collaborating on a float this year so keep an eye out for that!
One final thing is that Sept. 12 was Mikie Reynolds’ 15th birthday. Happy birthday, Mikie!
Thank you for reading this week’s installment of Bird’s Eye View. We will see you next week.
