FEMA returns for three days
CITIZEN STAFF REPORT
INEZ — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will set up an emergency pop-up driver licensing office Thursday at the Martin County Business Center, offering full services to help residents replace licenses, permits and ID cards that are critically important in their flood disaster recovery efforts. FEMA’s mobile disaster recovery center will also return for three days this week.
Gov Andy Beshear’s executive order waives fees for replacing lost credentials, leaving them free of charge.
Martin County Emergency Management director Kayla May said residents who want to use the licensing service for regular driver licensing, REAL ID or renewal will be charged if they did not lose their license or ID in the flood.
The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday only, in the same location where FEMA will operate a mobile disaster recovery center Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The FEMA disaster recovery center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
According to May, as of Sunday evening, 146 Martin County residents had registered their disaster claims, and FEMA had awarded $151,089.
