Missing Mingo County boy located and returned to parents

Tucker Wolford was located and returned to his home safe and sound.

BEN CREEK, W.Va. — A boy who went missing Sunday morning in the Ben Creek community of Mingo County has been located and returned to his parents.

At 8:24 p.m. Monday, Mingo County Sheriff Joe Smith announced that 12-year-old Tucker Wolford was home “safe and sound”

“Huge thank-you to everyone that helped — WVSP, WV Fire Marshal Service, Mingo Emergency Services, Mingo 911, all volunteer fire departments and everyone I missed,” the sheriff said in a Facebook post.

The search for Wolford began Sunday evening after the boy was last seen entering a wooded area on Dotson Hollow near his home early Sunday morning.

Wolford is the son of Carter and Debra Wolford.
