INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk is warning residents to be vigilant after a recent string of burglaries in the county.

“Folks, check your outbuildings and garages to see if you have tools or merchandise missing,” Kirk said Thursday in a Facebook post. “We have had a string of burglaries lately and we have been recovering a lot of items. If you have had items stolen, let us know.”

There were at least three burglary victims in one neighborhood. The sheriff said burglars took push mowers, window air conditioners, Shop Vacs, hand tools and “much more.”

“If you have had items stolen, let us know,” said Kirk.

The sheriff reminds residents to take all safety precautions to prevent these crimes.

“You need to be vigilant and watch out for suspicious activity in your neighborhood,” he said. “Please record the serial numbers of all your items that you own so that we can identify them if they are stolen. It’s also a good idea to take pictures of your items.”

If you have any information on any burglary, contact Kirk by calling 606-298-2828.
