William David Hammond
1946—2022
William David Hammond, 76, passed away peacefully Aug. 14, 2022, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
“Davey” was born July 26, 1946, to the late William “Bill” and Hazel Hammond.
Survivors include his sisters and brothers, Doris Antonocci and Lowell Rutledge of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, James (Gail) Hammond of Ripley, W.Va., James “Jimmy” Hammond, and Brenda (Dale) Ramella; son David (Tammy) Hammond of Mansfield, Ohio; granddaughters Logan (Alex) Logue of Lexington and Makayla (Clay) Cochran of Westerville, Ohio; fiancé Annie Muncy of Warfield; nieces Tracy (Jeff) Carter and Teresa (Kenny) Wheeler; nephew Jamie (Jackie) Hammond of Columbus, Ohio; special cousins Connie Horn and Donna Meade.
In his younger years, Davey lived in central Ohio, where he worked as a small-business owner of several businesses and was the general manager of a car dealership. Later after relocating back to Inez, his hobbies were buying, selling and working on older cars and collecting musical instruments and learning how to play them.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, in the Crum Funeral Home chapel with Warnie Pinson officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of services. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
